Here are three quotes that relate strongly to my sermons for February, 2021:

Forgiveness is an inner correction that lightens the heart. It is for our peace of mind first. Being at peace, we will now have peace to give to others, and this is the most permanent and valuable gift we can possibly give.

- Gerald Jampolsky

Peace and love are always in us, existing and working, but we are not always in peace and in love.

- Julian of Norwich

All life is transitory, a dream. We all come together in the same place, at the end of time. If I don't see you again here, I will see you in a little while, in a place where no shadows fall.

- Delenn of Babylon 5

To say the least, we are continuing to live in interesting times. While that concept has sometimes been considered a curse, at least we are not getting bored. There is no telling what will happen next, but our hope is built on the idea that we can get through our lives by working together on the issues that arise.

With that in mind, we will have to live with compassion for many people who have been led astray into extremism among us. We cannot begin to unite with them or their ideas, but we can still keep our hearts open to their pain and fear. Hope is born as we reach out a helping hand to those who need it, even those who may not be ready to receive our help.
