About Us
The North Idaho Unitarian Universalists are a liberal religious community open to all people who seek the truth with love in their hearts. We are a non-creedal community, meaning we don’t ask our members to subscribe to one ultimate statement of truth. Yet, we are united by our seven principles, and a common practice to bring our many individual beliefs into one community in honorable, respectful ways.
Shared Values
Unitarian Universalism is a living tradition that has changed in many ways from the original Christian roots of its Universalist and Unitarian heritages, and it continues to evolve today. Most recently, this evolution has taken the form of adopting new language to describe who we are as UUs. At General Assembly in June 2024, UUs voted to replace existing Seven Principles and Six Sources language in our bylaws with language describing Unitarian Universalism through these shared values, all centered around LOVE.

Love is the spirit of this church and service its law. This is our great covenant:

Living Our Shared Values
The NIUU congregation lives its values and strengthens its connection to the wider community by supporting local, national, and global nonprofit organizations whose work reflects our commitments to compassion, justice, and human dignity. Our partnerships include groups such as St. Vincent de Paul, Heritage Health, Companions Animal Shelter, local food banks (Community Action Partnership and 3rd Avenue Marketplace, Planned Parenthood, the International Eye Institute, Family Promise, and many others who serve our neighbors with care and integrity.
Each Sunday, congregants are invited to contribute not only to NIUU but also to our Charity of the Month, an opportunity to live our values through shared generosity. At the end of each month, our treasurer forwards all designated gifts to the selected organization, extending the reach of our collective support.
November Charity of the Month
We set an annual goal for Charity of the Month giving at 10% of our church budget, reflecting our belief that stewardship includes both sustaining our congregation and uplifting the broader community we are part of.
